Celebrating Leadership

At Alcoa High School, the wrestling season now closes with a tradition that means so much to our family—the presentation of the Grant Brace Legacy Award. Named in honor of Grant, this award recognizes an athlete who puts their whole heart into the team, works relentlessly, and lifts others up along the way.

This 2024-2025 season, that honor went to Rhyin McCourt. A four-year wrestler and four-year football player, Rhyin brought the same dedication to both sports—and to his teammates – as Grant once did. Coaches and teammates alike have praised his willingness to go above and beyond, helping the team as a whole and stepping in wherever he was needed.

The award includes a trophy, a framed copy of Grant’s favorite quote, The Man in the Arena, and the recipient’s name engraved on a plaque that hangs in the wrestling room as a daily reminder of the standard set by both Grant and each year’s honoree.

For our family, presenting this award each year is more than just a moment—it’s a way to see Grant’s values alive and well in the next generation of Alcoa wrestlers. Congratulations, Rhyin—you’ve left your mark.
